This is the exact review I left on Amazon.com. I’m sharing it here because this is the foundation of an extended book review project that I intend to build upon over time. I hope you’ll join me on this journey and dive deeper with me to learn more about expert-level Information Security using proven strategies and best-practices.

And without further ado, I proudly present to you, the review…

This book reduces the ambiguity and compliments my understanding of the terms and concepts of Information Security. For example, coming from a technical background, it is easy for me to assume that the author is referring to electronic information when he uses the term “information”. I learned from reading this that It covers much more than just the electronic type. Physical, intellectual property is also considered “information” and that it can come in many forms.

The example he gave of intellectual property written on a whiteboard (that needs protection), was great, as it helped me to broaden my view of exactly what intellectual property actually is. Which is more than just binary ones and zeros stored on a device somewhere.

He goes on to describe how intellectual property are aka assets. Then gives another easy to understand example which illustrates the concept of how and why assets need protection. This begins with an assessment by adding assets to an asset register (a list of assets and their attributes) so you can track your intellectual property and stay organized!

All that in just the 1st chapter! This book is awesome!

In Conclusion…

Hopefully you’ll join me on this learning journey and check back in with me later to see the updates.

If you made it this far you’re the real MVP! 🏆

Thank you for reading, I hope you found value in my review. 🎁
